Curriculum

NYCNECT was designed as a year-long professional development program for nursing and health professions educators with in-depth sequences in innovative pedagogy, simulation, informatics, and telehealth. The program incorporated a blend of face-to-face workshops, webinars, e-learning modules, and online discussion forum activities on a variety of topics. NYCNECT Transformers demonstrated program learning objectives by collaborating in small teams on a project that integrated one or more program topics to address a need at their home institution(s).  At the end of the year-long program, Transformers presented their project outcomes at an annual health professions educators conference.

The program was open to all full time and adjunct faculty and instructional or IT support staff working at CUNY at no cost. The curriculum involved approximately 45 hours of professional development during the academic year, with additional opportunities for individual support and mentoring. Workshops were facilitated by highly-experienced faculty and renowned guest speakers with expertise in simulation and other health care and educational technologies. Transformers from all cohorts were invited to join our network of CUNY Nurse Educators on the CUNY Academic Commons, a group for consortium members and other colleagues dedicated to teaching-learning in nursing and interprofessional education.
